New Zealand is lucky to have a huge range of hunting possibilities due to all mammals
in New Zealand having been introduced, except our native bats. Because of this, most of
the species are considered pests as they have no natural predators to control numbers.
Species include Red Deer, Whitetail Deer, Sika Deer, Rusa Deer, Fallow Deer, Wapiti,
Chamois, Tahr, Goat, Pig, Wallaby. Commercial hunting in the 60's and 70's controlled
numbers but now with deer farming common, it's now up to recreational hunters to do it.
