On the 16th February 1986, the 20,000 ton Russian cruise liner Mikhail Lermontov sank in Port Gore,
Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand after striking rocks. Now sitting in 120 feet of water, she is now
a major diving attraction.
This DVD shows the sinking and subsequent salvage work to remove the oil, led by salvage expert
Ian Lockley, before it became an environmental diaster.
